Jenna,

Now when I read each week, I wait with sweet anticipation for how you are going to be so deft as to weave the two. This is beautiful:

“What I see here is the call to become the Student of our own minds, to think about our thinking. When the Student and the Ace of Swords come together, I believe we’re being invited into the world of metacognition: to explore how we think, how we learn, and the mental processes that are unique to each of us.”

To be a student of metacognition—Seems intrinsically relational. . . .

I love that you brought this back to relationality! Thank you so much for that, I hadn't seen it myself. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this exploration Jenna. The Student, opening to new information, being curious and learning. Growing in knowledge of whatever field is being focused on. The AofS as new beginnings, ideas and concepts. Allowing the Student to see this subject anew, bringing more depth. The two together as moving beyond just rational thought into insight, awakening and wonder at the intricacies and depth of life. The AofS with the ability to cut through to what is important and what really matters. Then having the ability to communicate that. Seems every student needs an AofS. Should be a requirement in schools. Well maybe it needs to be an athame.

Julie, it's your wisdom like in this line: "The two together as moving beyond just rational thought into insight, awakening and wonder at the intricacies and depth of life." that makes me want to hand over the reins of this substack to you. 🤗💕 So perfect, thank you! And yes! I agree...athames should be on every classroom's list of required supplies. Lol.

Jenna, I am very moved by your remark, it is deeply felt. Love to you!

I’m embarking on several new creative ideas right now, and this feels so applicable. I’ve been hyperactivity flipping between different new things that I want to learn, this feels like a reminder to settle in and really enjoy the process with them

Kerani! ❤️ You've been on my mind lately. I've been wanting to check in on how the novel is doing. I wonder if the things you want to learn pertain to a new novel? A new fantasy photograph project? (I guess this is my Student now treading that line between curious and nosy. Lol.)

I have used the Druid craft deck for many many years. The ace of swords is depicted as a woman’s hand rising up out the water, holding the sword above it. In this deck, she is the lady of the lake. And what always feels true to me for this card is that the sense of “yes” or “victory” is a solitary course. She is the “lady of the lake”

I really like the addition of the sharpening of the mind with the sword to add to this. Lovely.

Oh that gives me chills, Erica! I looked at the image and can totally feel that solitary sense in the card. It also makes me think of the idea of the sword being a sort of conduit for the magic of the lady of the lake coming into the world. What a beautiful card! Thank you for sharing that!

I so glad you resonate with it. It’s such a lovely deck.

I see this card a few different ways - one) rising up from the depths of the lake (darkness) with a new energy to start anew, and two) the sword is handed to you from the lady, the “conduit” as you referred to. It depends on the context.

I listened to this episode of the Freakonomics podcast today: https://freakonomics.com/podcast/signs-of-progress-one-year-at-a-time/

And afterward I said to my husband "I want to be best friends with that guy and talk to him all the time. Oh wait, I think that might be a sign that I'd like to engage with the curious part of me that likes to learn new things on a deeper and more regular basis."

This pairing you've brought forward is very supportive of that idea!

I'm really paying attention to that Ace energy. The beginning of something. The beginning of thinking of an old thing in a new way? The beginning of thinking about something new?

Yes! That ace energy has my attention too!

I'm going to check out that podcast, thank you so much for sharing the link! I'm super intrigued. And, oh my goodness, it sounds like you let your husband see the Student taking over for a little while. How perfect for this week's pair! I love that the man in the podcast made a list of 52 things he learned each year. I can just imagine sitting down once a week and writing down something I've learned. It's like a gratitude list, but for my Student. I think I'm going to adopt this practice. It sounds really fun! So far this week, I learned that when humans experience awe, it results in lower levels of cytokines in the body. Yay! This is fun! Thank you, Jenna!💕

Ooh, so excited to be a subscriber right now! I have been around tarot for so long without ever really diving deeply. Somehow, explanations always feel surface-level, rather than connecting me with the energies of the themes.

This post feels like it opened a new understanding for me that I feel like I’ve been searching for a long time. Thank you, Jenna for your vision and clarity! Excited for more!

Oh gosh, Allysha, you just made my day! Thank you! 🤗❤️ I started doing these archetype/tarot pairing years ago for my own personal transformation work and loved the way these two "languages" really wove together to help deepen my understanding of them.
